Britespan is looking for an experienced Senior Designer located in Wingham Ontario!

Working from your home office, the Business Development Manager will support the Ontario area Britespan dealers.

We are quickly becoming the fastest-growing manufacturer in the fabric building industry, and need skilled, passionate individuals to join our growing team!

Position Summary:

The Senior Designer, a pivotal member of the Design team, is responsible for the product development and design of all component parts, assemblies, and custom parts for Britespan’s product line. The Designers focus on new products and create production drawings using SolidWorks 3D modelling software. This unique and problem-solving team implements product improvement initiatives while driving the research and development of new product lines.

Position Qualifications:

Education & Knowledge

· Completion of a post-secondary program in engineering technology, drafting or in a related technical field

Knowledge of design standards, tolerances, welding symbols and fabrication procedures – preferred


· Proficient in parametric 3D modelling software (SolidWorks preferred)

· Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite

· Experience in AutoCAD – asset

· Understanding of welding, machining, part design and assemblies – asset

· Able to multitask with a high attention to detail

· Efficient self-starter and problem-solving skills

· Able to maintain multiple projects while producing accurate drawings and designs

· Able and willing to training & coaching


· 10 years – design, manufacturing and technical trades – asset

· Manufacturing or construction work experience – asset

Experience with FEA Simulation – asset


· Efficient communication (oral and written)

· Work independently and collaboratively in multi-departmental teams


  • Willing to develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of our products and quality standards
  • Design new components and assemblies bringing engineering design concepts to completion while considering manufacturing and cost feasibility
  • Create the required models & drawings with high attention to detail using applicable design standards
  • Check and verify drawings to conform to design standards, manufacturing specifications, and customer requirements
  • Revise existing and maintain models and drawings using Product Document Management software (PDM)
  • Assist in the preparation of the bill of materials, and other engineering related documents and calculations
  • Assist the engineering team with solutions to manufacturing and in field challenges including on the production floor and / or on site as needed
  • Willing and able to be the primary contact and / or lead for projects with outside customers
  • Able to clarify details, attain or clarify information with dealer or customers
  • Participate in and / or lead the design initiatives for continuous Improvement, research and development
  • Mentor and develop junior team members
  • Meet deadlines and coordinate with other engineering and design teams
  • Other duties as assigned
